Why Choose Us

Our experience spans decades, and our specialized training ensures our work is capable of withstanding scrutiny from stakeholders. Through investments in technology and continuing professional development, our team members remain at the forefront of the valuation profession.

Our multidisciplinary expertise in valuations means our clients can count on us to handle a broad range of issues involving both tangible (i.e., real property) and intangible asset valuations, with our expertise in forensic accounting and governance in the context of private corporations setting us apart from other professional services firms in Canada.

We place ourselves in the shoes of each client to gain a better understanding of the needs, constraints and opportunities that are unique to each circumstance. This perspective allows us to tailor our scope of work, timing and fee to align with our client’s needs or to refer them to another firm when we are not the best option.

Our independence and objectivity are of paramount importance, not only to us but to the many stakeholders who rely on our opinions. As a boutique firm offering independent valuations across a broad range of tangible and intangible assets, we can quickly determine if any real or perceived conflicts of interest may preclude us from accepting a new engagement, allowing our clients and their professional advisors to move swiftly and decisively.

Our Approach

Phase One:

Problem Identification and Planning

We will connect with you in person or virtually to understand your specific situation and how our team can help. Whether it’s a brief consulting assignment or a formal opinion of value required for a highly contentious matter, our team will take the time to understand your unique needs, objectives and constraints. Once we confirm we have no conflicts or limitations hindering our ability to assist you, we draft a Letter of Engagement outlining our proposed scope of work, delivery date(s) and professional fee for your review and acceptance.

Phase Two:

Research

Accessing accurate and reliable data can be challenging, particularly when this information is unavailable in the public domain. Our in-house market intelligence, third-party data subscriptions and industry contacts allow our team to gather relevant data in a timely manner.

Phase Three:

Analyses

The breadth and depth of our analyses will vary from engagement to engagement, depending on the objectives of the client and as mutually agreed under the terms of our Engagement Letter. Detailed explanations with respect to valuation methodologies and calculations may be necessary for some assignments, while in others, a client may only require a high-level overview. In the end, the rigour of our analyses will align with the needs of the client and will be presented in a manner that promotes understanding and usability while keeping client time and cost constraints in mind.

Phase Four:

Reporting

The professional reporting standards we will follow and how we will communicate our findings to you are disclosed and mutually agreed upon in our Letter of Engagement, resulting in no surprises for clients when it comes time to report our findings. Depending on the needs of the client, our findings can be communicated verbally in person or virtually, or in written format delivered electronically (PDF) or professionally printed hard copy.
